A Thing Inside A Thing
AU_2019 | Work from Erik Herrmann + Sandhya Kochar's Graduate Studio I

A Thing Inside A Thing is an investigation of texture tectonics. A collection of objects are compiled in such a manner that their structural logic relies on each object in the collection. The resulting massing suggests a  textural system to the tectonics as objects slip, nest, and balance precariously against one another. The essential nature of the massing is to prop itself up through its inherent formal qualities and the textural qualities assigned to each plane. A Thing Inside A Thing ambiguously defines containment through the spaces between objects and the vital interactions that allow the project to stand.
